THE SAFARI STABLES EXPERIENCE

WELCOME TO THE RANCH

This is Rocky Glen - a 50,000 acre family owned ranch in the south of Zimbabwe, where horseback adventure meets wild Africa. A place where the days are shaped by the horses, the wildlife and the land. Spend your days riding through the bush spotting giraffe, tracking wildlife, hiking, canoeing, fishing, exploring ancient cave paintings or getting stuck into real farm life and when the sun goes down, gather around the fire, share stories and look up at a sky full of stars.

This is Africa, experienced differently.

WHERE HORSES MEET THE WILD

Our beautiful herd of over 40 horses are at the heart of what we do. You’ll get to know them as a huge part of everyday life on the ranch - bringing them in, feeding, grooming and saddling up before heading out across the land they call home. You’ll ride through the surreal landscape spotting wildlife from the saddle, enjoy long winding canters even hopping over the occasional bush jumps, you’ll ride along game trails assisting in checking for tracks left by animal poachers, experience cattle herding at golden hour and even swim with the horses.

Our favourite part? On Sundays, we saddle up for our one-of-a-kind picnic ride, heading out to a beautiful spot on the river for freshly baked cakes, treats tea and coffee.

But Rocky Glen Ranch is about more than just what happens in the saddle…

Away from the horses there’s a whole other side of Africa to discover. Hike to unbelievable sunset points and caves with ancient paintings, you can fish, track, canoe, camp under the stars or head out on a night drives to spot nocturnal animals. Get involved in conservation and anti-poaching initiatives, learn practical wilderness skills and see wildlife where it belongs - wild and on its own terms.

You can get stuck into real farm life, spend time at a local school, swim in the river, share stories around the braai or simply sit back with a cold beer and watch the sun go down.

Come for the horses. Stay for everything else.

COME FOR THE ADVENTURE.

LEAVE WITH A STORY.

  • My time at the Ranch in Zimbabwe was nothing short of extraordinary. It’s rare to find a place that not only stuns you with its beauty but also touches your soul so deeply. Sindy and Davy, with their genuine warmth, have created something truly magical a sanctuary where you feel cared for, uplifted, and completely renewed. I left feeling transformed, recharged, and profoundly grateful. This was more than just an experience; it was a gift I’ll carry in my heart always. Thank you, from the deepest part of me.

  • From the very beginning I felt welcome and comfortable, almost like being part of a family. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and genuine, which made it easy to feel at home. The mix of breathtaking nature, unforgettable adventures, and the kindness of everyone on the farm made this the best experience I could have wished for. I would recommend it to anyone, and I truly hope to come back one day.

  • I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone! Staying on the farm in Zimbabwe was incredible – every day offered something new. Between horse riding, kayaking , bush walks, climbing, and seeing wildlife up close, there was never a dull moment. I already miss it and I would love to come back!

  • I was at the Ranch for 3 weeks and I enjoyed it so much. We went horse riding in the bush and I even had my first jumps with a horse, it was so fun and I even saw giraffes and zebras on the rides. Also the accommodations are lovely and so many animal friends waiting for you. Especially the hippos were a highlight for me because you can see them very close and it feels like a real adventure every day. Also you get delicious, fresh and local cooked meals that are warming your tummy. The Ranch grows juicy tomatoes and sweet carrots that you want to eat directly from the field. All in all I was so happy there and I met great people with great stories and big hearts. Definitely coming back here.

  • It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. You are welcomed with so much warmth and immediately feel at home. The people there are all incredibly kind and caring. We went horseback riding almost every day and saw lots of animals. It’s such a peaceful and quiet place, yet you experience so many exciting things. I would go back there again and again.

  • I have no words for that unbelievable experience. It was such fantastic. Everyone is absolutely friendly and caring. I had the feeling of being a part of the family, because the atmosphere was such relaxed and familiar! The landscape was breathtaking and the horses were also incredible! I would totally recommend it!

  • No words can explain how much I enjoyed my time here. Sindy, Davy and family were the most welcoming people and made us all feel like part of a family from the moment I arrived. Honestly such a surreal and eye-opening experience. We made the most magical memories that will last a lifetime, and I made such great friends. As an 18 year old girl travelling solo, I felt completely safe 100% of the time and Sindy made sure to check on me when flying/at airports. So much more was incorporated into my stay, not only did we ride almost every day, we also involved ourselves in the local community and school, packed fruit and veg grown on the property, hiked mountains, went on game drives and spotted so many amazing animals. Cannot wait to come back next year with the friends I made there and would 100% recommend Rocky Glen Ranch above any other place !!!!

  • I stayed at Rocky Glen Ranch in October. I had the best time ever and felt at home the moment I got there. The horses are amazing and the people so loving! I was able to learn a lot about the farm life and the African bush. While horseback riding or Safari drives you are able to see lots of wildlife which is simplicity incredible. If you want to experience Africa in its fullest and love animals this is the perfect place for you! I would go back and do it all again in a heartbeat.
